Building data

Building data API: footprints, heights, year built and codes

Parceled returns building data for US properties in one call: building footprint polygons with heights, assessor building attributes (year built, square footage, stories, bedrooms, bathrooms), the property's building permit history, and the building code its jurisdiction has adopted (for example 2021 IRC with local roofing amendments). Each piece is a separate field, billed only when it returns data.

How do I get started?

  1. AI agents: add the MCP server `https://www.parceled.ai/api/mcp` to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or any MCP client. OAuth runs automatically. See install.
  2. Developers: create a free key with one request: `curl -X POST https://www.parceled.ai/api/v1/accounts -H "Content-Type: application/json" -d '{"email":"you@example.com"}'`.
  3. Check coverage first: `check_availability` (MCP) or `GET /api/v1/check-availability?lat=..&lng=..` is free and tells you which datasets exist at a location before you pay.

The free tier includes 100 API calls and 5,000 map tile requests a month. After that, credits cost $0.01 each and you are only charged for fields that return data. Full reference: docs.

Frequently asked questions

Where do building footprints come from?

Footprints are assembled from public building-footprint datasets and linked to the parcel they sit on.
