Where does the hail data come from?
MESH is a radar product from NOAA's Multi-Radar/Multi-Sensor (MRMS) system that estimates the largest hail size at each location from how high and how strongly storms reflect radar energy above the freezing level. It covers the whole contiguous US, including places where nobody filed a storm report. Storm days are cut on the 12Z (UTC) convective-day boundary so one evening storm is not split across two dates.
How do I query hail history?
{
"name": "count_properties",

"zip5": "75034",
"hail": { "dateAfter": "2026-03-01", "minSizeInches": 1.5 },

}
}That counts properties in Frisco, TX 75034 hit by 1.5-inch or larger hail since March 2026 with no roofing permit since. For a single property, call `search_parcels` with `include: ["hailAreas"]` (full history) or `["currentHailAreas"]` (last 14 days).
How do I get started?
- AI agents: add the MCP server `https://www.parceled.ai/api/mcp` to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or any MCP client. OAuth runs automatically. See install.
- Developers: create a free key with one request: `curl -X POST https://www.parceled.ai/api/v1/accounts -H "Content-Type: application/json" -d '{"email":"you@example.com"}'`.
- Check coverage first: `check_availability` (MCP) or `GET /api/v1/check-availability?lat=..&lng=..` is free and tells you which datasets exist at a location before you pay.
The free tier includes 100 API calls and 5,000 map tile requests a month. After that, credits cost $0.01 each and you are only charged for fields that return data. Full reference: docs.
Frequently asked questions
How accurate is radar-estimated hail size?
MESH is a calibrated estimate, not a measurement. It is best used to show where hail likely fell and its relative size, and is often paired with ground reports. See what MESH hail size means.
